Microscopy Workshops Get Underway
A group of members met up on Saturday to spend the day dissecting bees, looking at internal and external anatomy under a stereo microscope. They dissected the abdomen to display the digestive system as well as the thorax to expose the thoracic gland and view the indirect flight muscles and the head to mount the hypopharyngeal glands on a slide staining them with nigrosin.
Next workshop in January we shall be covering Adult Bee Diseases including Nosema and Amoeba as well as exposing the 1st tracheae to test for acarine. Spaces still available for members.
