Cub Scouts Meet the Bees

Cub Scouts Meet the Bees

We enjoy teaching young people about bees.

Why not try out our Meet the Bees Session?

Last week we kitted out a group of cub scouts (min age 7) in a bee suit and gloves. Our team taught the children in small groups about the life cycle of bees and why they are important to us. The emphasis was on climate change, how this affects the bees and what children can do to help support the bees.

We then went out into the apiary to show them the hives, opening up and inspecting the bees, identifying stores of pollen nectar and honey as well as looking at the different casts and their lifecycles and how they work together as one as a colony. The children handled the bees, holding frames of bees, seeing them close up.
