BUMPER YEAR FOR OUR BEE MANAGED SERVICES

Last year, we were approached by a family in Oxshott who wanted to welcome bees into their private estate. Passionate about nature and excited at the idea of producing their own honey, they asked us to set up two WBC hives at the bottom of their garden.

We’ve managed the colonies on their behalf, carrying out weekly inspections, monitoring and treating for varroa, and taking care of the honey extraction process. The family were keen to be hands-on too, and with their own bee suits—including one for their five-year-old daughter—they’ve been able to enjoy safe and memorable encounters with the bees.

The benefits have gone beyond just honey. The bees have also supported pollination across the family’s garden, helping their plants to thrive.

This year has been particularly rewarding: not only did the family enjoy cut comb, but we also harvested for them over 60 jars of honey, including some truly spectacular kiln jars. By the end of the season, we expanded their apiary to three hives. To round off a successful year, we also hosted an educational day for the family and their friends, giving everyone the chance to experience the joy of handling bees up close.
