Archie wins the McKenna Cup for 2nd time

Archie entered the National Honey Show again this year, held at Sandown. Now aged 8 years, he achieved two 3rds, 1 x 2nd and First for his illustrated workbook for the active season, claiming the McKenna Cup, which is sponsored by Guildford Beekeeping Association.

Apart from his illustrated book, he entered the Pollination class making a replica of himself with flowers and bees, for which he received 3rd prize. This is him staging the entry before the show:

Well Done Archie! He’s already planning next year’s entries! It’s given him a real boost. His bees swarmed this year, so he learnt how to cope with that this year and built his colony and new queen up to be a strong hive going into winter. However, honey production suffered a little as a result, so winning the cup has really helped motivate him again.
