“Those were the days, my friends!”
The members gathered in their refinery at Pyrford Golf Club last night to celebrate Christmas and the end of the year with a 60’s theme. Some went to the back of their wardrobes and came dressed in very appropriate 60’s attire, others in their DJ’s and evening dresses; but all made a tremendous effort.
The venue made us very welcome, thanks to Steve and his team, put on a great show, lots of decorations and DJ. A variety of 60’s music, which everyone knew the words to, gave everyone a chance to sing and there were some very hot moves on the dance floor!
We had 2 Christmas Quizzes which kept the table debate lively………….and we ran a heads or tails for a new Hive and Bottle of Veuve Cliquot. It was a difficult decision to know where to put your hands after a few drinks! In the end Clare won the Hive and she donated her champagne for another game later in the evening. Boxed wine was presented to all the committee for their hard work and 10 Certificates awarded to the candidates who passed their Basic Assessments this year. Great time was had by all, and when midnight struck there were no pumpkins waiting.
Thank you to all who attended and Clare for organising it………more photos to come…………and a great year planned ahead: 40 already booked onto the Theory Course, 18 on the Basic Assessment, Advanced Beekeeping courses, Queen Rearing, lots of events, open apiary sessions and workshops booked…………if you want to join an expanding and successful Bee Group, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
