Shook Swarm & Bailey Comb Change LIVE!
Saturday 26th April – The sun stayed out just long enough for us to perform a Bailey Comb Change on a colony with a low Nosema spore count using the funnel technique and a Shook Swarm on another. We had a good turnout of just over 20 attendees and lots of questions. The colony we performed the shook swarm on, which was a fairly strong colony was not at all feisty considering the stress being imposed and behaved well. We shall be monitoring the two colonies during the coming season for honey production and will be reporting back findings for your own interest.
