Oxalic Demo & only one sting!

We held a very successful Oxalic Acid Demo, at our Pyrford apiary on Sunday 12 Jan, with 20 attendees. The weather was crisp but sunny, perfect temperature for the bees clustering and we managed to rescue our temporary ‘clubhouse’ (marquee) before it blew away. Members stood keeping warm with tea, coffee and chocolate whilst they were taken through through the different methods including Plastic Syringe, Trickle 2 and a German piece of engineering, the aluminum Measured Syringe. After the Health & Safety and Risk Assessment were covered; each beekeeper practiced their technique, by treating one of the 20+ hives using their preferred method. All bees bar one hive behaved well, whilst beekeepers treated, and only one sting between us all.
