Bee Open Day
The sun was very kind, not too hot but nice and warm, the bees were out and the BBQ stayed alight! It was an enjoyable day, with 48 members in attendance.
We had 3 “Bee Sessions” with 6 groups of 3-4 people handling bees for the first time; all fascinated and about a dozen signed up to our theory course as a result.
The Blind Honey Tasting Competition was very close and was stolen by Christine Howell, who won an apidea, by a few points from Clare Cox-Cunningham who came in a close 2nd. In joint 3rd we had David Buckwell and Bernie Hales. Comments on the honey included: “amber nectar”, “like flapjack”, “sweet heaven”, “boiled sweets”……..
Lots of sausages and burgers were eaten, and the canopy was not required.
